As our team at OPM continues to work tirelessly to fortify our data systems with stronger security upgrades, I wanted to notify our Federal family that we have taken the e-QIP system offline temporarily. E-QIP is a web-based platform used to complete and submit background investigation forms.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management today announced the temporary suspension of the E-QIP system, a web-based platform used to complete and submit background investigation forms.

OPM today published a report that summarizes the actions the agency has taken to combat cyberattacks, the efforts that are currently underway, and plans for the future to meet a critical challenge: Government and non-government entities alike are under constant attack by evolving, advanced, and persistent threats and criminal actors. These adversaries are sophisticated, well-funded, and focused. For that reason, efforts to combat them and improve Federal IT and data security must be constantly improving as well. Read the Cyber report.

As we at OPM and our partners across government work quickly to investigate the nature and scope of the cyberattacks that invaded our network and systems, I want to make sure that our Federal employee family knows that I continue to work each and every day to make sure that the data OPM is entrusted with protecting is secure now and for the future.

During the ongoing investigation of the intrusions into OPM’s computer networks, the agency is updating its Frequently Asked Questions feature as new information becomes available. We are also making updates as new questions come to us from the agencies, Federal employee labor unions, the Chief Human Capital Officers, Federal employees and other interested parties. We hope to deliver the information you need, as quickly as possible.
